HI apartments question...

Those of you who have looked at apartments do they tend to come with washer/dryer hookups, or included or are they just too small usually? I dont want to spend a mint onan apartment while we look for jobs and a house, but it will be about a year before we purchase. Gotta give the wife time to deliver and then get back into her career.

Thanks in advance.

I've been apartment/town house hunting for the past few weeks and I've found that many come with the washer and dryer in the unit. One less thing to worry about I guess.

On the other hand, covered parking is less common.

Ah ok. Just trying to figure out whether to ship mine. They are almost brand new, but shipping is a pain. Hmm...

Damn no covered parking? Thats sort of required for me, atleast it will be once the STi is around. Hmm. Keep me updated if you dont mind. We will be there in 2-3 weeks. Dad has a condo in Waialua so we will crash there for a couple til we get settled.

THanks!

Wife thinks I'm nuts

I'm a soon to be 1st time home-owner and my these are my requirements in order:

1. Covered parking
2. Near downtown Honolulu
3. Clean kitchen and bathroom

Needless to say, WRX owners REALLY like their cars.

Amen, would like "indoor" parking, but I know that probably only comes with Condos and such downtown. Im looking for the same. We need about a year to get settled then look for something we can afford. Ugh...

there are nice apartments that have covered parking, a washer/dryer, dishwasher, etc. But when you ask for that much, ... the selection of where you want to live goes down, and price goes up.
as far as places with parking garages, 18hr lived at a place with one, but the spaces were kinda small. And weird crap drips on your car too if you happen to have a space under a 'crack' in the overhead.

and apartments with 'full size' washers and dryers are not as plentiful as ones with the stacked washer/dryer combo(small). SO you may or may not be lucky enough to find a place to your liking with the space.

It is really going to depend a lot on the kind of place you want to live in, where you want to live, and your standards.

Isn't Waialua on the North Shore kinda by Haleiwa somewhere?

Waialua's about a 45min drive to town at least...

I live in Kaimuki and I actually like this location. I think Steven would agree as well. Its close to town, quiet, and easily accessable. I live in the same building as Steven and for my place, its about 700/mo. And this is a 950 square feet 2 bedroom 1 1/2 bath condo with full duty washer/dryers, but open parking. I actually like open parking since I can see my car from my room though.

Yeah 3 miles from it. Just where the old guy wanted a place. We want to live near Honolulu where we will try and work at. Wife is a Pharmacist (needs to get her US license tho) and I have worked at a hospital as a software engineer for 8 years. So we figure Honolulu area is best for us.

Wow, no lie. That sounds just like what we are looking for. Much cheaper than we thought we would find. Can you give me contact information. I will call them tomorrow. Thanks.

Near UH? Not really up on the locations. We are hoping to spend about $1000 a month or so and get a 2bedroom or something. Sounds like we should be able to do that. Heck would rather spend less of course.

Appreciate all the info guys. I am coming in there blind as hell. =)

Unfortunately...last checked, no available rental spaces here at the moment but I could check for you...would be cool to have 3 rexes in a building.

I pay 1100 a month for my 2 bdrm, there are quite a few places in my complex that rent for 1200++ a month though. Personally, what I rent now is up to my standards, and I couldn't find much else like it for the cost. I guess I'm just picky.

one thing you never mentioned was if you wanted air conditioning or not. That of course, narrows the search too.
