Help exhaust question
I just installed catback nameless performance exhaust in my 2013 sti sedan. I would like to put a down pipe but im not sure which one would fit if i get a different brand. Also a cold air intake and do i need to tune it? If so which tune would be a good recommendation?
i'm not familiar with the nameless type (2.5" which connects to oem dp?), but assume all you will need is a grimmspeed 3"-2.5" adapter. all 3" flanged dp's for your year will fit. lots of people don't recommend intakes unless you are going over 400hp or just want it for sound. yes you will need a tune... get all that suff shipped now and schedule a protune with ams or pdx when they come..... you can always go cobb ap, but the last I checked, they only have ots maps which are aem and cobb intake specific intake maps.
depends
Dep3nds on how much boost u trying to push. With stock fuel set up, ur dp/exhaust... my guess is somewhere between 280-295 to the wheels/290-320 tq @ 17-19 psi, depending on how aggressive, cat/no cat, and health of motor. A whole lot better and smoother than the 265 (non whp) which is advertised from the shelf.

you dont need to get an AP. you can get an open source tune. although an AP is a good investment. its all up to you if you wanna spend the extra 600 for the AP. but definately get a tune either way, youll want to get the most out of your mods. you'll love the results.

For the most part, I'm pretty sure most aftermarket CBE are designed to work interchangeably with other aftermarket DP's.
As far as tuning, you can either go with Cobb's AP, open source or protune. The AP is kinda pricey but it is super user friendly and comes with supporting maps for everything you said that you planned on doing to your STi.
Open source is cheaper than the AP because the cable is about $170 and the maps through Torqued Performance is about $85 for a map. Open source is a good route but to install maps and to log you'll need a laptop to hook the tactrix cable to.
Lastly pro tuning is getting a custom made map for your car. It's like taking either one of the options above and tweaking it to fit your car's parameters.
I personally have an AP and am running Cobb's OTS stage 2 map. It seems to be doing fine after looking at a bunch of logs. I personally would like to get a pro tune but can't justify it as all the mods I have done are supported by the OTS tune. I think if I add any other performance parts I'll have to get it pro tuned but as for now, the OTS map is working just fine for my DD needs. Good luck with modding and always ask questions before buying parts... it's a lot cheaper that way!
I would get with **** and see if he still has a gsebcs and a dw65c left and install them both b4 tune. I also want to say that he also has a dp left. Maybe he'll hook u up with a package deal.. no need to wait fo4 shipping or pay for shipping. .. also, GOOD pricing!

Yup I have all 3 things u need.
Once you start doing this stuff u will NEED a tune. To maximize safety & power. Turbo cars are sensitive. Think of them like a female you have to touch them right before you get off.
