Hawaii ECM Tuner (Luke)
Anyone have any info. on this guy (Luke)? He explained that he helped build the motor that the Turbo XS car has.
I've asked him to tune my car, which he agreed to do. He sounds like a nice person on the phone and I'm eager to meet him.
Overall, I don't know a spit of tuning and I like Luke's offer of $100 per tuning session.
Any feed backs?

Luke currently runs a low 12 second 2G DSM. He does all his own tuning, and is one of the highly regarded tuners in DSM Hawaii. He has worked with Magnus. Here's a link he posted for me on DSM's site. Hope that helps.

That's exactly what I've been
looking at, the Magnus Motorsports 2.0 short block. I'm not convinced 2.5 is the way to go. I'm still on the fence. I am also looking at a 2.2 stroker. I want a motor that will spin to 8500 at least. Less shifting.

Luke Reeder is an old school dyno rat like me. He was ALWAYS at Dynojet Hawaii building up his DSM way back in the mid to late 90's when I was constantly throwing my blown 'Stang on the rollers. Smart guy that's been around for a while.

I've looked at
Ron's 2.4l also. I guess I'll have to wait and see how my turbo and friends feel when I get engine management. Hopefully there will be a dyno around.

Also, look to spend at least $9 only on the heads and block to find the power and spin you're looking for.
San, I envy you.
FYI, Ron uses a 91 Legacy awd turbo tranny with an automatic WRX rear diff and dirve shaft wihout any noted problems. Yes, this is with one of his bookoo powered longblocks!

Since Turbo XS had Luke build their car, I can't wait to meet him and take notes.
As for my block, I chose it becasue it was within my budget. My goal is only 11.99 or low 12's on the 1/4 mile. When I finish school, I'll have more time and hopefully more money to do some serious modding.
Also, I've been impressed at the numbers that the USDM STi block swap had produced. I have yet to find a reason why this swap is ineffective.

Looking at Turbo's XS block, I'm wondering why they didn't go with a closed deck.
I'm sure that the sleeves would handle more than any stock JDM or USDM block, but since they went that far, why didn't they just go the extra mile? It still makes over 400 to the wheels. I wonder what its limit is?

Closed deck is prone to more
heat retention. I think the semi-closed deck runs cooler. I think that's why the 2.2 had oil squirters. And it looks like the Magnus block/head combo will be cheaper.
