Hawaii Cops????
I know i have seen the regular cops on the roads with the blue yellow lights and they are marked cops....also the self owned cops with the blue singal light on top....now are there and unmarked undercover cops..??????
Another question are the cops really strict about the inspection being next to the plates.....or under the bumber??????

They're called PO's or Police Officers. There are unmarked PO's personal vehicles. some are off duty but they still have the siren hard wired into the car. They can pull up next to you when you're driving and get your attention. Not sure if they can pull you over though. And I have seen a few personal PO vehicles with a blue strobe up in the visor. My bro was pulled over by one.

yes there are unmarked police cars but if you're worrying about this then you've got to be doing something wrong already...
Just follow the rules and you should be fine!

There should be some sort of patrol car orientation for those of us coming from the mainland.
I know where I'm from (New England) an SUV (or Mustang, or Camaro, or whatever) with a little blue light on top = volunteer firefighter. If a "blue light" comes up behind you, you can get out of the way if you want to, but you're not required to. I didn't know until I had been on island a few months that those "blue lights" out here were HPD!
Fortunately I never had one try to pull me over, they would have been pretty pissed when I just kept going on my merry way ignoring them!

CRU Officers often drive around in unmarked vehicles and rental cars, although they rarely pull people over for traffic violations. Off-duty Officers (Motor or regular B/W'S) usually do not pull people over, but they can call someone on duty to pull a person over if need be. I've heard of instances where off-duty Officers pull people over however, but i've never done it.
