after 15+ recon tickets, and attempting to get recon 3 times, you tend to get sick of it. so now my race cars don't move unless going racing, and the dd is stock and slow. works great.

I'm going to have a hell of a time passing recon with the GC when it's all done. I think I can get away with the widebody kit and everything else, but the suspension test will kill me.

that bounce test is completely stupid. a 2" bounce is almost impossible for most performance based cars. think if they tried that with jaysons z06, it would fail with stock suspension.

there u go. i understand why some of you guys won't waste your time going thru the process but i have been working around the airport area for more than 10 years and the sherriffs who patrol this area have nothing better to do than look for this $15 decal. i have gone thru 4 modified cars and all got recon and passed on the first inspection. you need to understand that getting a recon is like making a presentation. you need to make sure that you have all of the current alignment papers ready, tint is legal, no stickers on any of your windows, your engine bay is clean and everything is bolted down (example: your intake, wire harnesses. etc). they will do a "bounce" test on your suspension and will look for at least 2" of travel (although i've noticed that they look for some sort of travel, not necessarily 2"). just put all of your weight on it when they tell you to push.
but the other thing is your demeanor and attitude towards the inspector. you need to realize that these guys will fail you for anything if they don't like you. dress up nice and be friendly and try not to argue with them. if they find something wrong, they will let you know and if you can't fix it there, then just come back and once you have shown that you made a good faith effort to fix the problem, then they will pass you. these guys are really very cool and are able to help you answer your questions in order to pass.
again, i have noticed that the enforcement has gone up over the years. i have seen the sheriffs in the downtown area, the harbor police by nimitz, and the motorcycle cops on h1 freeway just randomly pulling over modified cars for no recon. actually, last 4th of july, we were at ala moana park and we were watching cops on foot just happily giving recon tickets to modified cars that are parked by the magic island parking lot. the way i look at it, a $15 sticker is way worth it.

My recon was taken away from me when the officer couldn't find anything illegal on my car from just looking at it. So what did he do? He got on his back and looked under my rear bumper and said I don't have the foam in my rear bumper. (it's a jdm rear bumper beam) so yes he was fine in taking it. I wasn't a dick to him and he was asking all kinds of questions about my car to me. He even had me crawl under the car with him to show me. (my wife and kids were in the car also & this was around 10pm)
So for me if they went to this extreme to find something on my car to revoke my recon then they will find anything to take it. That's just IMHO. So after that experience I said I will never bother trying to get it again unless it's for my wife's car or something.
Forgot to post. I got pulled over for expired safety check. I completely forgot it expired the night before. (my ticket was was on the 1st of the month) I thought my car expired after my wife's car so it was my fault my safety was expired.
