Harness Bars (on island?) & Harness install options

so...

ive got some 4 point harnesses I'd like to use for AutoX - i know about the general angle rules (and they why's) of harness installation and why they're not supposed to be used on the road (unless installed properly)...

with that out of the way:

>> does anyone sell universal/subaru specific harness bars on island? <<

otherwise my install method would be to use the rear-seat bench bolts...

or would anyone suggest against/for it?

Stock seat belts are just fine for auto x unless you have a seat with the holes for harness'. If you're looking for a harness bar though, I'd go with the NRG one, it's adjustable and they're nice.

And I think if you don't have a harness bar and install them just through your seat and to the rear bolts it will do you more harm than good

true - especially considering how slow i am lol... but after watching my in-car video from sunday, i saw how much i was being thrown around in my seat since the stock seatbelt doesnt ratchet lock manually (the whole, pull-out-fully-then-it-locks-so-you-can-CG-lock-yourself trick doesnt work) I'll look out for NRG since i have the same harnesses anyway...

its a good point - but from what i read in scca's rule book and various racing setup resources, it all depends on the angle produced (+/- 20* i believe is the limit for high speed use) though i plan to use it for only low speed anyway

my stock seat belt works fine. brad and i used a CG lock at rallycross one time and it worked well except that we lost the slide plate a couple of times because we weren't pushing it down enough to lock it securely. The plate would pop off during the run. the CG lock was kinda clunky though. i would worry about it scratching the interior of my car

i use to run a 4 point 2" belt on my miata without a good angle... it was just to keep me in the seat better. i wouldn't run it for anything high speed or even daily though. CG lock works well, I believe Troy sells them.

Have you tried sliding the seat back, pulling the belt quickly to lock it, and then slide the seat forward? That is what I do and it works as good as a CG Lock.
