Nice shot, agree on the DOF and Item on of choice, looks like the focus is on the second glass... but the composition is good and tasty lol

 

what I meant by that was that I think I chose the wrong beer that was supposed to be in focus. The second one ws the elected focus point int hat shot that is why it's a lot sharper than the porter. The weird thing is that the porter label is sharp though LOL

I believe is due to close proximity, and did you have the AF mode on all points or just center? could be the case...

 

center I focused on the lip of the second glass and at f3.5 the DOF is a little wider (i stress a little )
