Finally picked up the tomato car today. I was told by the previous owner that the front CV boots are leaking, so I'm guessing that i'll just go ahead and change the half shafts. I have a friend with an 00 or 01 2.5RS - will those half shafts work in my car? I'd rather take a hand-me-down than fork over money for new / recon ones if I'm just going to swap out the drivetrain in a year or so!

A few cigarette burns in the seats (yay smoking...not.). Gotta go over the car and see what's on the "to fix" list before I get 'er painted. That should bring it out of ghetto-car status and up to at least econo crapbox.

i would think they would work but why not just replace the cv boot? it's not that expencive. and if they will fit then you will have relatively new ones when you do the swap. sometimes it's better to just fork over the $$$.

 

I suppose the newer split boots aren't as bad as the stuff I remember from when I was younger. When we swap the wheels out I'll have to take a look at the CV joints themselves and make a determination at that time.
