guess what i test drove today...

first of all, a to joey for getting his new car before me...

as far as the 04 Z06 i had on order, i wont be picking it up anymore...i was anxiously awaiting the official release of the C6, and the looks and specs of the car are awesome, so i'll just wait for the next gen Z06...

i was gonna stop by the BMW dealership to see if they had anything new, and to look at dave's sti, but i went to the mercedes dealership first...i saw my old salesman, and did the usual small talk...he then said we have an 04 E55 available...come on, let's go for a spin...

he said "you want me to baby it, or go fast???" i told him, "dude, you know me...punch it!" so he punches that thing and we take off...my girlfriend later describes it as "it feels as if you can fly in that car."

so we turn off onto a side street, and he floors it and burns out for about 20 feet...then parks and lets me drive...so i do the same!!! ...and then take the car through my "normal" tests for a car i test drive...

holy crap that car is AWESOME!!! i was punching it all over the place, but i kept running out of road REAL fast...thank GOD there were no cops around...but then, i probably could've out run 'em anyway ...516ft/lbs of torque baby!!! the handling was sweet...real easy to hold tail slides- no indications of any snap oversteer, and it was just sooooo easy to control the drift with your right foot...and the suspension is adjustable for a smooth or firm ride...and the brakes are 14" cross drilled rotors with 8 pots...the bugger stopped on a dime...the interior is something else also- suede leather on the a-pillar, visors, and headliner... air bladder seats that one can control to be comfortable, or to hug your body for spirited driving...during the whole time, i was thinking that this thing would just RULE at trackday...and some r-compounds would make it fun at auto-x...

after the test drive, we played with some numbers, and i took the car home...i just finished waxing it...just kidding, i only took home a brochure and some papers with some payment numbers on it...i dunno if i'll be buying it, as it's a huge chunka change for a car, but i'll give it some serious thought...and it helps my GF loved it...and thanks for reading if you made it this far..

cliff notes: drove E55...car is unreal...me want...didnt buy it...YET

Jesus those are sweet. I stayed across the street at BMW and even then had to talk myself out of the M3 they had in the showroom. I question the logic, but I guess something about actually keeping some money in the bank or something like that. Also everything I keep hearing about BMW dealers makes me want to think twice before getting one again. I called the dealer asking some quesitons about activitating the alarm and they were jerks. So sad...

I hear ya there. Computers are cr@p now to work in. Atleast from what I have seen looking for work all over. My wife is a Pharmacist and all her friends are either nurses or Pharmacists and they pull down some SERIOUS money. Thats why we are headed to Cali now. Her friend just moved there to LA and gets $72 an hour as a Pharmacist. Im all over that... Im thinking Mr Mom and just washing and waxing the cars.

I hear you, Bro. Maybe I should go back to school to be an RN? I just wouldn't be able to handle the dirty work... I hate chemistry too much to be a Pharm... Hmmm, I'm stuck. Damn. Maybe I'll go sell Benzes.

dave, i was enrolled in electrical engineering when i first started college...but i didnt finish it, as my advisor (in EE) told me i'd have to move to the mainland, as there are no EE jobs here...and i wasnt willing to leave hawaii...luckily for me, my auntie persuaded me to go into nursing, and the job market is CRAZY right now...a few of my friends went to the mainland, and had their airfare, housing (1 month), and moving expenses all paid for...not to mention a cash bonus (4-5 figures)!!! and it's really easy to get a job here...

and people i know who went into engineering say the market sucks...if they cant make product A within budget B, they get fired and the company finds an enginner who can do it for the alotted budget...and the technology changes so fast, that they can have a top position in a stable company one year, and the company be out of business the next...

and richard...the money is great, and so are the hours (i only work 3 days a week) ...but the job responsibility is unreal...peoples LIVES are in my hands...if i **** up, a "sorry bro, i'll buy you another" wont cut it...but the feeling of having saved someone from dying is also great!!! all in all, i feel the job is okay, it's not like i really look forward to work, but it pays the bills...tell erin to hang in there, and if she needs help with something, i'll be glad to help...
