Google sucks now

Is it just me or do you folks notice google going downhill lately? Not only its way slower in searches, most of the searches I do bring back irrelevant results. Usually if I wanted to look for a lyric of a certain song, I just type "songname lyrics". Now I do that and go through the first 2 pages of worthless links that lead me to other search engines to find one decent one.

Anyone recommend any other good search engine alternatives? I liked altavista before google many years ago.

I know what you mean. I don't know if it's that google has gone downhill so much as the website promoters have figured out ways to becoming more 'relevant' when they're just huckstering.

The only technique that has worked for me is in being more creative in my search verbage.

I've always used hotbot.com

but I have no idea how good they are compared to google because I never use google.
I like their popup blocker though.

I learned by accident that the google search box also processes math. Try searching for something like...

((3/4)*8)+(3^12))*8%

all search engines will become like that. with the internet expanding exponentially every minute you will find more and more useless crap online. the only good side is that with more crap in their database the better possibility of finding information about the randomist item/topic.
