Good setup for Hawaii drivin?

What up guys, I was just wondering what kind of setup would be good to throw on my 04 sti when I get back to HI. Mostly daily driving and MAYBE the occasional auto cross in mind. Here in south dakota (gay) i was gonna do a 20g setup but im gonna be stationed at hickam in Feb (originally a Waianae boy!) i figured it wouldnt be worth it to put a bigger turbo on... should i do a turbo at all or just max out what i can on the stocker? any suggestions would be appreciated. shakas!

p.s. im stage 2 right now with pinks struts and eibach springs.

you should be able to run a 20g, just remember you will have a bit of lag penalty and probably isnt the best spooling turbo for auto-x. also there are pretty strict speed laws in hawaii. anything higher than 20 over and you are lookin at jail time+ liscense suspension and hefty fines. also most of the speed limits here are lower than in the open states and for the most part 55 is the highway speedlimit with the occasional 60 and rural roads are 25-35. not to scare you away, just the facts.

Yeah, speed laws here f***ing suck. And there's no track so I think if I were in your shoes I'd go with either a P&P stocker or a P&P 18g. Maximize midrange grunt and quick spool over top end power.

i say max ouit the stocker and if you feel you need more then you should be able to do an 18 or 20g with minimal mods. the 39 will put out quite a bit of power.

Yeah if anything turbo response is the name of the game in HI. Total outright power and boost is gonna drive you crazy on the HI roads.

Also, the only kind of track days you'll get is Auto-X which rewards cars with better response.

I agree with the statement regarding response. Roads on Oahu are so jammed, that you will have a hard time finding a road that let's you stretch the legs on a laggy turbo.

Also, for Solo, response is king as opposed to high hp numbers.

Max out the VF39 and you will have a killer setup for the stop-light drags and Solo.

Also, the TMIC is good for quick spool-up whether you use the stocker or upgrade to a larger core. Get a protune and you're done.
