Got pulled over in CA same day i put on my Blitz Nur Spec R on(full turbo back plus uppipe and cobb stage 2 tune) Some people would call it one of the loudest exhausts. Lied and told him i just bought it and is CA state legal meaning its under the limit for db (95 decibel or lower). Which i knew it wasn't.
Cop was a douche after i did that and pulled out a video camera and sound testing device? is what he said and went on with his way of testing. Went ahead and paid like $90 for the ticket after CHP tested it at over 110 db hahahahahhha
Didnt wanna hassle to change it out and get it tested by CHP again to find out it is "still" too loud. Just comes down to how bad of a day the cop is having i guess idkkk lol

i wonder how many harley dividson's get pulled over for exhuast. Its okay for a bike to make alot of noise but not cars/trucks.
OP i wouldnt worry about it being loud, i drove around honolulu for a good 6-8 mos with catless invidia race TBE. And like a couple people already said, dont drive like an idiot, since you can be seen AND heard.

I already don't drive like an ***, but I know s*** happens and one day I will have a fine/court with it. I'm just hoping I can try fight it and get a lesser fine. But I'm hoping I will never get a fine...
I love the sound of the n1's, but I'm eventually going back to the states where speed limits are higher... I don't think I would be able to deal with the drone cruising at 70/80ish for a 30-45 min trip.

I've been driving around a STI/WRX/LGT/FXT since 2003 on Oahu...I've had a multitude of exhausts to include:
Greddy Evo2
Borla Hush
Prodrive
Cobb
B&B
Crawford
HKS High Power
HKS Carbon Ti
Kakimoto Ti
Helix Ti
Helix
APS 3"
APS 3.5"
TurboXS Stealthback
TurboXS RFL
and I'm sure at least a half dozen others that don't come to mind right off hand...both with and without catted downpipes...
I have not been stopped at all...and some of those listed above were "LOUD"...the Kakimoto and Helix Ti had to be one of the lightest and loudest exhausts I've ever used...they didn't last long on my car.
Drive responsibly and keep a light foot around the blue and whites (rookies)...they are the ones that are typically going to stop you...people that race off the line and blow off their HKS and RFL's typically get picked off. Most of the cops that drive their own cars are like us, they like exhausts and intakes...if they stop you, it's most likely to talk about your car...
BTW...the Sheriff's are the downers...especially on Nimitz around downtown to Dole Cannery area...I've heard numerous people getting stopped by them for stupid reasons, even cops get stopped by them (I have a friend that is a cop)...they like to stop hella flush guys lowered with wheels protruding...stay away from that stretch of the road and you should be fine. Another place to stay away from (rookie training ground) is the Waikiki area, especially on nights and weekends...oh, you'll hear the Harley's a mile away and I've never seen one pulled over...figure that one out...dumb.
I have not been stopped luckily...as of recent, I am running a Prodrive system on my LGT with an EL header (quiet) and a Borla Hush on the FXT (which is pretty loud as far as I am concerned) with a soon to be installed UEL header...just to give you an idea...no problems.

Man, you can hear them coming even though you don't see'em.

It's real irritating on my eardrums...make me cringe everytime.
I think it all depends on the car too cause I'm running straight pipe Turbo back on my wrx and the cops don't even look my way but I got a noise violating in my 350z that had borla exhaust that was quiet.
You're absolutely right, I drive a 2013 FXT with Invidia N1 duals and don't get a second look, I also drive pretty conservatively too but cops simply see an SUV that's 99% stock and isn't doing anything crazy, that I think most cops have seen and heard grumbly sounding Subarus, even stock WRXs and STIs have a distinct grumble when driving by. Like everyone said, just drive chill and most cops will leave you be.
sheriff pulled me over for loud exhaust (ticket) and guess what same week i got pulled over at alamoana by cops but they never pulled me over for exhaust it was my headlight was out lol(warning for coilovers when he looked closer) ,note i wasnt speeding so i guess it depends on the cop i guess
