Question GDA Comparisons

One of my Honda Techie friends asked me earlier about comparisons with the bug-eye wrx('02-'03) and the peanut-eye wrx('04-'05). Did reasearch on the web for a couple of hours but only gave specs. I too question my self of the knowledge of the suby world. So can anyone help me? Does the '02-'03 wrx share the same engine setup down to the core(i.e. type of metal material made for the internal parts) compared to the '04-'05 wrx. Also pertaining to the 2.5 RS

Both used an EJ20T (2.0L), same motor, same hp/tq ratings, the RS used an EJ25, which is the same block as the STi, Legacy, and Forester, but without a turbo.
