funny noise from car

hi. my wagon is making a flapping noise sometimes when the clutch is engaged and the engine is going from 700-4000 rpm.

sounds like kiddie time with card and bike spoke flapping.

- cold/hot doesn't affect
- length of drive doesn't affect
- is rpm affected, the frequency goes up with rpm. frequency of the flapping, not it happening.
- at about 4000 rpm, it is so frequent that it is almost inaudible from normal engine noise.
- never drag raced ever with it.
- bone stock (aside from suspension)
- definitely not clutch shudder
- gets loud or happens when i put load on it. i tried putting it in 2nd at 1500 rpm and giving a little gas and it made the noise.
- sometimes it fully goes away for a drive all of a sudden, just like if it was a bolt that tightened up like a crank.(not that i have any idea what i just said)

seperate problem below

- very loud sharp scary a/c kicking on noise. which seems to be an isolated event as it only happens when the a/c is used and the compressor kicks on.

any ideas? thanks b

ps. i just need time to take it to the dealer. but until then, or if ya'll think it is serious to take it asap.

i have similar noise as well (first one). The dealership claim is the hydrolic tensioner. but they replaced it twice and still same thing. BUT the noise did reduce a bit.

as for your second noise, I bet is some grease on your ac belt. but some baby power for now and you'll be all good! no, I am not kidding.

I've squirted some lube on the a/c belt and I've been able to reduce the "chirp" when the compressor kicks on...

bluevirus: i guess i gotta make time and take it in.

is2: it is actually a very loud sharp whack noise, like slapping thick plastic ruler on a table. you can feel it in your bones.

thanks b

DON'T PUT LUBE!! oil/grease is what cause the noise because the belt is slippin' (not grippin'). BTW, the baby powder trick I learned from the dearship (only for temp/quick fix).
