Thumbs up fundraising anyone?

well, i was reading todays paper and got touched by one story... its about a guy named bruce murakami whos wife and daughter got killed by a racer in florida.. well, hes made his own websites and id like you guys to check um out.. i believe he lives on the mainland, but might have been born and raised here on oahu..

www.safeteendriver.org
and
www.touchedby.com

anyways, i emailed him stating that im sure the hiic'ers wouldnt mind doing something like this. i think something like standing on the streets and holding up signs and so forth..how does that sound? it also talks about fundraising on one of the links... maybe greg can arrange this? check it out and leave whatever feedback you want to.. mahalo

I like the idea of street sign waving...we'll find a street where we can park our cars to get noticed.

Can't help you with fundraising (conflict of interest and all) but the best thing we can do is get the word out to people in our demographic.

I would not stand on a street, but I would do another cruise. I think that we should organize a cruise for this. I would never stand on the corner like a weirdo in the hot sun just to make a point.

ok, a cruise does sound good.

also, what if your mom got killed by a racer (knock on wood) would you then stand on the street if you knew your point would get across?

It would be a good idea if we could get a local vinyl shop to create some type of graphic to put on the cars as they cruise to get some attention. I know most people are against putting vinyl on their WRX (I know I am) but for a good cause I would plaster it all over the car.

Perhaps magnetized or static would be better?

If anything we should target the high schools for this activity. Since that's where most kids learn to drive crazy and act the fool.

Throw out some ideas.

yea, you might be right on this one. Only thing is that I am poor... They would have to be donated.

But I am willing to give up time...

If my mom was killed I will murder the driver! Not throw signs up. Street racers will stay away after I kill one of them, and drop them in the bottom of my lake Scott Peterson style.
