Fuel Additives purchased locally

Hey guys!

I run octane booster to get my mix up one octane number. I have been doing this in the legacy for a year before it was and now my current PDX tune has a 93 octane map.
Currently i purchase the outlaw octane boost, 4 bottles come in a box, so for an extra $2.50 a tank i am paying to drive my car.

IS anyone else using any additives such as torco, xylene, toulene, etc. ?
Also, where are you picking it up at and for how much?? Thanks!!

Basically this thread is to share what octane levels you are running above the pump gas. Thanks again.

Torco is the way to go. It has some nasty stuff in it (Benzene), so you want to wear gloves and hold your breath, but it is good stuff. You can do a search on NASIOC, it's well regarded. Or you can take my real-world opinion as I've used it for months. Good stuff. Just don't get inhale it or get any on you.

San,

I remember several guys running it in their wrx's while the track was open here.
Remember Iris, (Mario's car)? Also randy used to run xylene as well. I just don't know where to source torco locally, or if it can even be purchased anymore here. That's why i was leaning towards toulene and xylene as alternatives.

It's already in the compostion of your gas. There are many threads as stated on this on nasioc, I'm trying to source it.
I wouldn't hesistate using it.

i've used toulene, xylene and they worked for it's purpose during our track days at HRP. I used to get my toulene from city mill but it's no longer there. xylene is available at home depot but in smaller amounts now

chris, i used to run xylene everytime back in the day. there was a point where i would add a gallon with every fill up.. i know... but yeah, iirc, 1 gallon of xylene with a full tank wiill only kick it up half a point or so.. no problems using it. make sure to mix in 4oz. of lubricant like marvel mystery.

Just order the 5 gallon can. It's much cheaper. I have some of it in my living room (long story). Really, the Torco is the shiznit. I've seen boost at 22+ lbs and no problems here, except for the wastegate blowing open. I've only driven the WRX a few times in the last few weeks. The Corvette is past it's break-in period and I'm giving it a second 1/2 to 3/4 throttle break-in for the next 500 miles.

Ha ha ha...I just started singing the Sherwin Williams song in my head.

Then I thought about the other stuff you can buy at paint stores for funky purposes like buying Acetone to cut Cocaine.

San, I don't think torco ships to hawaii due to hazard permits. I'll have to get my hands on whatever size container they got here.

Flatbox, I'll check out Ted's machine shop in kalihi thanks for the heads up!

chris, toulene & xylene can be bought at most paint stores. there used to be an excel file that would calculate the theoretical octane you're mixing. i'll see if i can find it.
