Otw home from the meet...
About half way home i notice a huge power loss when i step on the gas. It felt like i was in 5th gear going 45 and bringing it up to speed. I was in 3rd. from reading one too many ringland problem threads, i know this is a good sign that i have a broken ring land. Got home and checked the tail pipes for blue smoke and didnt see anything. Removed the oil cap and saw smoke coming out, not a lot of smoke and i could not tell if it was blue or not. So this sucks, over the week end ill do a compression test and if it is a problem ill start a thread on I club and IWSTI. Might need some advice for shops/people that i can trust to work on my car. =(

 

Just an FYi by reading up on all of those threads ur gonna always assume that's ur problem. We have seen 2 cars here at work with that problem and guess what they were cause by modding with no tune or a ****ty tune. None of them were stock cars.

Also when u take off the oil cap u will have pressure and what appears to be a little smoke. Coming from there.

Were u by anychance in "I" mode? Boost leak maybe? Actually that might sound more like it since u said it "feels" slower. But a compression check won't hurt u so might as well check it. If u need help to do a boost leak test lmk.

 

Thanks Shagg. For sure i was in S mode. I did just install a pitch stop, heat shield, and turbo blanket so i had to remove my intercooler ill check that. I also will put my AP on and look at some readings to see if i am hitting target boost.
I have been stage 2 since 2 mos after i bought the car back in 08. (With a pro tune) Thanks for the idea's. going to check under the hood and go for another drive.
