Free pizza & beer!

I recently picked up a set of headers w flex pipe from june r.s on the classifieds and im itchin to get them installed. Me and a few buddies were going to do it sometime on this weekend, but someone suggested me to ask on the forums here.

Alright im askin out there if anybody would want to help me install this. I know it involves jacking up the car, the motor, then a lot of wrenching, etc etc. I have a rough idea of how to work this thing, but id like another person there to help me out and work together to speed up the process. Anyways im lookin to try and do this either today in the afternoon after 5, or sometime tomorrow since im off. either pm me or gimme a call- 348-0136.

As the title states, there will be free pizza and beer, so i think the compensation part is taken care of!!!

Thanks for your guys help!

Antonio

Remember to change your gaskets while your in there. Save yourself the possible headache of going back in after finding a exhaust leak after startup.

You will need 2 ea. exhaust manifold gaskets to head and 1 ea. up pipe to turbo gasket.

Have fun wish I can help but I have my own wrenching to do.

Yeah Gaskets are really your only concern.

Just go read on subymods the install instructions for the header and for up-pipes.

They should say all the tools you'll need (o2 socket). Also be sure to allow a lot of time if this is your first time under the car working with this stuff.

thanks. ive been checkin out that site, i also found this cool sticky on an entire manifold uppipe midpipe downpipe install on clubwrx.com i believe. Anyways ill be sure to allow meself time. ive worked on cars for a while but ive never changed headers yet!

My buddies are also telling me to sand and throw some hi temp paint on there. Ifrom what im told it would keep the headers from corroding, but ive also heard of heat-wrapping them as well? Ive heard mixed stories about this. Some say it works excellent by keeping the header temp hot allowing the exhaust to flow faster, while others say that it would risk cracking the headers until ultimate destruction. Is it worth it to wrap???

Unless one of the experts on here chimes in you should research more on wrapping the headers.

I have HEARD that unless the headers are stainless steel they can crack from the corrosion caused by the combination of the moisture retained in the wrapping and the heat.

seems to be an issue of stainless steel headers vs other materials.

Personally I would not wrap headers. it retains a lot of moisture and there is too much worrying involved. SS in theory should be better and I know people who have done it and yet to have problems but it takes time. If you can, get them coated.

High temp paint can't hurt, is should help prevent rust. There is a difference between stainless steel and other metals but personally I still wouldn't run the risk of wrapping.

If you're gonna put time into any add-on to those headers...do the ceramic coating. Wrap will be fine...if you only race in the dry...others have commented on the wrap and moisture.

yeah ive decided to just throw the hi-temp paint on for some anti-corrosion. i dont want to risk cracking/rusting, even if its ss. ive read mixed reviews, and most of em are no no's.
