Howzit everybody! I haven't been to a good eye doctor to update my glasses (use 'em to drive at night) Rx in YEARS (maybe 10). Anybody have a good person to see? I also want to get contacts... Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Take your perscription and buy your contacts at costco... i've priced em out and they're cheaper than 1800 contacts

Well I've worn contacts for about 12 yrs or so and I'll tell you that a good eye doctor is worth paying a couple extra bucks for My doc is Wayne Matsuyama and he has offices in Westridge and Kaimuki. He's great and I believe he was optometrist of they year before.....woohoo

He's cool and he really goes out of his way to get the right stuff for you. This last year he had me try 4 different lens to see which one I liked best......you'll have a hard time finding others that will do that much these days. Shoot me a pm if you want more info

yep i mean after you get a good doctor and all that of course... I'm cheap so I get my exam, try out different contacts (i'm using monthly disposables now) and buy them from costco w/ my perscription. I'm with kaiser anyhow so doesn't bother me that they don't get my money on the lenses They cover my visit and I still get glasses from them anyway.

Dude...I used to work at an ophthalmologist's office for 7 years. You should see an ophthalmologist for eye care...optometrists only do a few checks and can prescribe glasses and contacts...while ophthalmologists do the same and check for everything that can be wrong...call me or PM me if you want to get some #'s of docs. I know most of the excellent eye docs and eye surgeons in the state...

Thanks, Joey. I still have to call you and fill you in on the "situation". I've been so busy trying to get ready for the new job that I've been slackin'!

You should check with your insurance carrier and call the doctor to see what plans they work with.

I agree with Raudi and Nolimit...get LASIK done. I didn't have LASIK done (I had PRK, hich came before LASIK), but I love it. Too bad it's not covered under insurance, and you still have to see an ophthalmologist for a screening anyway.
