Exhaust help

Aloha everyone!!! I just acquired an 06 Sti, used, but in great condition, except for the radio which has some kind of freaky noise coming from the right speaker... anyway, anyone had that problem?

Besides that, the exhuast is just too loud for me, if anyone wants to do a straight up trade with me for a way softer one, or an oem one for an 06. Would an oem 05, or 04 fit an 06 sti? Let me know if anyone wants to do a straight trade, although i would prefer an 06 (pm'd Will666) oem exhaust, or one in great shape.
... or if you want to sell me it, at a reasonable price of course... unless someone has other recommendations...i'd appreciate it.

Thanks!!!
Tyson

PS. good to have a turbo car again. =)

I have an 04 one in perfect shape...

Catback I am assuming...I have the catback from an 04 STI...

lmk if you are interested...there is very little to no difference between the 04 and 06 exhaust...I'll even help you swap it out...to make sure it fits.

Brent

PM me...

I took mine off my car with probably 500mi or less on it before I changed out my cat-back.

Speakers Suck

Yea, well that noise means that the speaker is blown. Does it look like the guy who had it before had a amp or even a different deck, if so then yes it is blown. Sounds like it is rattling or cracking.... Just going to have to do a straight up swap with some newer aftermarket kinds.

Thanks for all the response... lostUncertain (Peter) is going to hook me up with his 05 Sti exhaust. Hopefully everything goes well... this would be my first exhaust install on an Sti.

Thanks Mystic... i never thought about the speaker being blown...especially for an 06. The previous owner must've been hard of hearing or something. I didn't notice any other stereo components....although i also noticed that there is no bass whatsoever from the speakers, even with the bass turned up to the max... haven't really played around with any other settings... i probably missed something. It's a stock 5disc changer that's installed now...so at the moment, i'm thinking you're right and will have to get staight replacements. Thanks!

The rattling noise you hear is most likely the coverings near the speaker bracket.

is the noise like a high pitched squeal? if it is then do you have an aftermarket deck? does it get louder and more high pitched as you tap teh gas pedal? if so then this is a common problem with subarus with aftermarket decks. something to do with emi hitting the deck harness and causing that noise. don't remember exactally what causes it but if you take the deck out and resittuate the harness or wrap it in something to block the emi you should be ok. if the sound is like a loud buzzing when the bass hits then it's probably a blown speaker or like chuck said it's hitting the surround. hope that helped, L8R

Thanks! After playing around with it...pushing all kines buttons to just to get the damn thing to sound at least half way decent... it still sounds like crap. Anyway, Peter and I found some amp and sub wires under the trunk carpet... so i'm pretty sure the former owner had all the goodies in the back, hooked back the stock deck, but missed a connection or something. Cause all i get is mids and highs from the speakers. ... except yeah, i think the front right is blown. Gonna take it out and try to reconnect all the wires correctly. Thanks!

Oh, and thanks to Peter for exchanging exhausts with me... like the sound better now... not as loud. Nice.
