Engine Stalling

Thing started maybe last week when I threw a P2096 code.
AP didnt see it and found out using the Legacy's white plugs in the fuse box.

Reset the ECU with AP and car drives fine w/ typical stuttering while ECU relearns. But, a few miles down the road, my car is stalling when coming to a stop. I checked the battery voltage when car is "able" to idle and its +13.5volts, and did a MAF cleaning just now. (BTW, anyone know where to get a replacement O-ring as Ive read its 2mm thick and 28mm inner diameter). Also went around the engine bay to look for loose or disconnected vacuum hoses. Found that the vacuum hose to the T from oem boost controller were cut but Vakamon did install an APEXi EVC-R the week before my problems started and ran fine. Im sure it was done intentionally to do the install, but Im not sure if the hose leading under the intake runners lead to something that is still connected or was "blocked or tied off". Im curious cause if it not to be used, why wasnt the hose taken out altogether.. I think the "T" had a hose leading to the driver side was going to turbo inlet, left side maybe to the wastegate and the middle vacuum hose (source) for which it split to the 2 ends dissappears under the intake runners,..so I dont know if its disconnected to wherever it leads to or if it "is" connected to something??? If it is, then that may be my vacuum leak...

Anyways, going to start my car and run it if the MAF cleaning did the trick, if not Im also going to check my AVO bov too to make sure that isnt the problem.

But any help with a diagram or explaination of the above vacuum tubes would help...Going to call Ryan if he has some insight for me as Im sure he knew he disconnected it to install the APEXi....

Thanks!

Hey Kev, I have a copy of the 05 Legacy service manual on a cd. My computer is down right now, but if you want to borrow it or burn a copy let me know. I would think you'd be able to find some diagrams that could be of use.

Kevin, give Jarrod a shout or shoot him an email as well.

I did have stalling issues with my AVC-R as well and Ryan fixed it.

I too have the service manual on CD if you'd like to take a look at it.

LMK. Sides, you are just down the street from me.

This is what I am trying to find.. So far, no disconnected or loose hoses other than the cut hose from the "T" when Ryan installed the APEXi EVC-R,..but Im sure that was purposely done but gotta find out more info...

Still thinking about it from last night till this morning,..the vacuum hose going under the intake runners are probably going to the oem boost solenoid...(I'm guessing)....

Simon,...I will definitely give you a call and meet up with you for that Legacy CD Manual since you are closer....I can probably see you after work today and hopefully the weather gets better....

Im going to call Ryan too to see if I can learn anything from him as well and fix on my own when I get home.......

Keep us posted, Kev. I'm curious to know if the stock BOV will fix the problem.

Good luck!

those open hoses by your turbo are for your stock boost control solenoid. we left them all in there incase you wanted to go back to stock. if you had played around with your bov lately that can cause stalling as well, especially if its set to vent to atmosphere. if the bov is too soft, vacuum during idle will pull the piston open causing a big leak. good luck!

Thanks!

Put the oem and I was able to hold idle in my garage and havent had a chance to test drive yet. I had the AVO 50/50 BOV on all the time and never had a problem with idle except for adjusting it once when I had some fluttering...and throwing the P2096 code added another variable to the bad idle...

Will test drive again and see how it is..if everything is ok, may put the AVO back on and do some adjustments to it again..Funny that this idle problem came up 1 week after all was done (turbo, APEXi)..

thanks!
Kevin

I believe our ABS plastic OEM BOV will hold up to 22psi.
