anybody here have or know somebody who has upgraded to an 18G?

want to get some info on specifics.. which injectors.. FMIC or TMIC.. any tranny upgrades? maybe wanna know if an EWG is needed..

also want to know how much power they put out after their tune.. (or even if they got a map emailed to them)

thanks!

honestly, i think the 18g is too small to benefit from the cost of an ewg setup. it will help, but you will be spending big bucks. ive seen set ups where some run an upgraded tmic.. probably better for spool up

18g is not too small to benefit from an ewg. I had this set up for a while and loved it. If you have a built bottom end and can run alot of boost it puts you back in the seat hard.

In terms of built bottom, you mean bigger displacement or just forged internals?

For a 2.0, 18g is pretty big

18g flows more than VF34

you can spend the money if you you want to, i didnt say it was NOT gonna benefit. i just believe the cost to gain ratio is quite small. scroll down to the "When do I go with an external wastegate?" for a better explanation. for a turbo that size, i think the iwg is sufficient enough for a daily driver.. just my 02.

I agree but 18g is pretty laggy on a 2.0 w/o some mod on the bottom end...

depending on what you do, it will still be a 2.0, which leads me to believe upgrading to a stronger bottom end doesnt necessarily improve spool up time. someone correct me if im wrong...

upgrading your boost controller and BCS can improve not only spool up, but better control of boost, for instance a turbo xs DTEC which comes with its own BCS .

Well, his goal is 300whp... I dun think spool up time will matter too much.
