They are actually correct about the knock being the catalyst for which map you're on, but unfortunately there are only 2 maps. If you're on 92 octane, you shouldn't knock whether you were on the 'higher octane' map or not, unless it's bad gas which is a factor that HAS to be taken into consideration. If you'd never put anything higher than 92 in your car and you get a bad tank of 92 which makes you knock, then you're gonna knock no matter what. Hence:

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but it sounds like yet another case of some dumbass at the Suby dealership who thinks he knows something about WRX/STI's.

I'm in agreement with Pat. Neither the hi-det or lo-det map should knock on 92 octane under most any normal driving condition.

where'd you go?

If you are going for your STi ECU RECALL then it IS covered under warranty!

Bull **** about the gas though it shouldn't matter what type of gas you use... all that matters is that you take car of this champain and fast!

They never said anything to me about it being related to gas you use they didn't know what they were talking about. I talked to Braun at Schuman he never mentioned it. I think that if it wasn't a problem that the car came with they wouldn't be re-flashing our ECU's they know it is their problem that's why the fix is free...OH yea still no caps for my injectors..

Is2scooby: would the first 5-10 seconds of ONE autoX run still be under normal driving because i got hit 2 times in less than maybe 10 total seconds.

the first hit was a short <1 second thing power loss bog thing, and then a second or two later the second hit came and lasted what seemed to be a few(3-ish) seconds long where i was flooring it and the car was deccelerating. i was holding it to the floor for that long with no power. that was after a minute of idling at the start line and spraying the IC.

my gas level was just below half, so that shouldn't be it. i always use my usual 92 shell octane.

temperature after the run was normal.

any ideas? i guess i gotta get a flash huh?
