Dish Network in Hawaii
did a search in the Hawaii forum turned up nothing. I need info on the dish network from residents of Oahu only please. Info like quality, worth the money, would you go that route again, basically a review. Also please give me info on their internet services they have available.
Thanks
Jess

wasn't sure if you meant just people in the Islands in general...sorry about this if it is only in Oahu that you wanted...but just got back from Hilo not long ago, my uncle signed up for the dish network there thinking it was cheaper and better than cable.
1. He had to go DSL with Verizon for internet connectivitiy...slow Internet service compared to cable at this time...I had to configure it for him to make it work...junk...
2. Programming seems pretty nice, nice channels.
3. When it rains, thank goodness for his DVR, because he gets "NADA"...rain really iterferes with his signal to the point of no reception. At least he can watch his old show using the DVR.
4. If you go with multiple rooms, yeah, the installation may be free, but you have to pay for each rooms service separately...oh, btw, whoever installed his cable was a pure amateur...just drilled holes in his walls and shoved the cable through..no junction box, no wallplate, nothing...not even silicone to seal it up...I wasn't impressed at all...
Now, with all of this, he is bound to a conctract for a year...
Bottom line...He doesn't save enough going this route from cable...he will be going back to cable after the contract ends...

i had it when i lived in manoa. i loved it. it was nice and clear. got more sports gamesand wrc channels. tho the down fall is when there is a storm it gets kinda junk
I had it at my apartment and it was infinetly better than Oceanic. The one service call was handled in less then twenty minutes, if you've ever called Oceanic you know what thats like. Plus my installation and installer were awesome. Wall plates, the whole nine yards. Plus the prices are way better, plus if you're not from HI you can get sports packages and watch your own team.
