Didn't even make it a month :(
Some dude scraped my bumper while I was getting some dinner, sad days . Not sure if I should go through my insurance or just pay outta pocket. I did a search and heard Oka's is good so I hope to take it there. Anybody know if insurance companies allow you to choose which shop to take it to?

Geico's list is a list of shops they approve, and they will send someone out to evaluate the damage if you choose from said list. You can still take it to other shops to get a quotation for fixing that.
I believe geico allows for 78$ an hour for labour (from when I redid my bumper, hit and run on my birthday!). The insurance isn't going to cover alot of it either, not with a $500 deductible.

being a new car, should be pretty easy to just paint the area. You color has started fading or discoloring yet so paint straight from the factory should be almost a 100% match with very little work required to make it match perfect.

I'd venture to say that the repairs would just slightly exceed $500, maybe close to $600. It's a 3 stage and even though the body labor is small, there are a lot of small parts that we would have to remove and possibly paint too (fog cover, Tow hook cover, etc..).
Unfortunately, it's not quite as easy as we would hope, but I wish it was. Color matching is difficult even with solid colors like Aspen White. Metallic and Tri coats are very difficult to match.......on a new car or older. However you are partially true about it being a little easier because the car is newer. I tell all of our customers that painting and color matching is one of the hardest parts of our job, and at the same time, it's the most visible too. We're very up front and honest about what we do and we make no promises. I'd love the opportunity to help a fellow Suby enthusiast out, but if it's a 100% match you're expecting, our shop cannot guarantee it. Many of the fellow members can vouch for the work and the service you'll receive, but a dead on butt match on a bumper with a 3 stage pearl.........that's a tough one. It's just that you're dealing with different density materials (plastic vs. metal), so the panels will reflect color differently. Then you add in the 3 stage part of it....... If you have any questions or want to set up an estimate, call me at the shop # 677-5474 ext. 11 and ask for Brandon. We can talk story and I can explain your options.
