Question Defi gauges question??

Does anyone know or did anyone do this?? I am about to get my safety check inspection tomorrow and I was gonna just take off my gauge pod housing with the defi gauges off the center dash and just hide the wiring with the oem clock cover. By doing so, will this affect my engine in any way?? I know this is a stupid question and common sense tells me that nothing should happen as long as the wires arent exposed and making contact with other wires/metal grounding.

Thanks for looking,
walter

unplugging a device that is giving you a reading from a sensor shouldnt be an issue since its not hooked into the ECU, but i am curious as to why u need to take it out for a safety inspection?!

Talking Mahalo's and Alojah

Thanks for your response bobby, mokeone, and 4080wrx!! Reason why I was asking is because I have not kept up with current safety check regulations.. Back then(1996-1998), I had a civic and I remember that I couldnt pass safety check with gauges mounted anywhere in the interior. Even aftermarket exhaust back then couldnt pass safety check as compared to now where having a aftermarket exhaust will not affect passing safety check. So I just needed to double check on this so thanks for the info guys...

thanks for your time,
