San - Did you have to remove a wire holder/bracket thingy to install yours? It turns out the WRX part won't fit the Legacy - the brake lines off the MC are routed differently and get in the way - so I'm trying to install it on my sister's '02 WRX wagon. There's a wire holder bracket that comes off the fuel filter bracket, and I can't see any way the Cusco brace will fit with that there. I'll probably just remove it and zip tie the wiring in place, but just wanted to be sure I was doing this right.

FWIW, my sister's car's wiring/hoses look different than the pics on z1auto's website.

Hey

Pat, you're right about the wire holder, but if you look at it it's two pieces, the "top" piece you keep, the "bottom" piece you ditch. After that it bolts right up. If you need any help give me a call. 422-2595 (H), 448-1436 (W), 255-8591 (C).

I just ordered 20 of them. Once they come in, I will let ya guys know. I did not want to make this too official, cuz I hate being yelled at if stuff gets delayed, haha.

Thanks, San. I pulled off the wire holder portion, and kept the other part (which retains the fuel filter). It's all good.

Well

I was there (Ft Meade) a few months ago, and even though I knew you were leaving, I was judging your current location by your screen name info. I doubt I'll be in your area soon. I passed through a local toll booth and said "thanks" to the psycho girl with jailhouse tatoos and she snarled at me ("I know you didn't just talk to me"). No kidding, my coworker who was with me and hails from Philly says he'll never live on the east coast. I was only there a month, but I have to say manners there are lacking.

well,... I finally got my hands on one of these.

Install is easy. and this post should be good for confirmation that it DOES work on an 06' as well (for those concerned about it being listed on places like (Z1Auto) for 02-05's.

Install on my 06 STI was uneventful and pretty easy.

(side note: to those with a FMIC setup. you may not be able to use the brackets for the fuel lines (etc), so I just removed them and only used the plastic clips.)

I installed the Cusco MCB on my 2002 wrx wagon about four months ago and didn't notice that much of a difference in braking. When I was having Water/Methanol injection installed last month at DBtuned, Oaf stated that the Perrin Master Cylinder Brace was better at controlling firewall flex than the Cusco. I found this strange cuz Cusco usually has a better rep for research and quality parts (General Consensus-NASIOC, IWSTI.com and I-Club forums) than Perrin. Since I trust Oaf's opinion over the various "keyboard engineers" on the afore mentioned forums, I'd go with the Perrin unit instead of the Cusco if I were to install a MCB again.
