PC1066. Thats rambus ram, on a p4 system, it could run a tad faster than ddr. Its not the amount that matters, its the raw ram frequency. they're probably cheaping out and giving you non high rated DDR ram anyway, so might as well get the rambus. usually 266mhz for the ddr ram compared to the 533 on the rambus..
2.0-2.8ghz P4 systems aren't that great btw...the only good p4 chip is a 3.06ghz hyperthreading. save some money and go with 2200+ athlon xp's.

BoOm got me my Athlon 2000+ system. I'm loving it. I ripped a DVD's to Divx in under an hour which took over 2 on my PIII750. All this with DDR.
Dan your preference... P4's are faster in some applications, but not all. The price difference is not justifiable IMO, and I think BoOm will agree. Like he said go with an Athlon
Now he just needs to hurry up so I can build my other system to use as a webserver and exchange server.

Well I sell Dell's and Gateways for the company I work for. We are an authorized dealer and do some service calls for them too. I have no doubt in my mind that Dell is a great computer company. Their support is really good and parts are overnighted to me when I need them. Although sometimes the technician on the phone barely speaks english
However, there is a premium to pay for when you buy a Dell computer or any "pre-built" computer. What BoOm does is get you the parts to assemble the PC. Does he build em too? Ask him, I did my own PC from the parts I got from him.
There are tradeoffs too to buying a clone vs. buying a retail PC. Mainly it's the software. The retail PC comes with the OS, applications, and more. That is the premium you are paying for. But for some lucky individuals we have this stuff laying around all over the place...

Dude I'm getting a Dell.
Got the Computer list above for $1987. That's shipped here next day air.
Dell has a military discount!
I would have had to pay $2003 + 160 for shipping!

I know your pretty set, but i have to try one more time...
You should build your own computer, it'll be better and cheaper, adn if your worried about software... Between all of us i garuntee we have all the software you could ever want, it may take a few more days though.

hey Dan, if you want, we can put one together for you, .... but I like Dell's too, ... so either way, just trying to save you some $$.
and I think he might buy from BoOM, ... But it seems like he doesn't get questions answered very fast, and is slow on the sale. I know a couple people at least that have been waiting on some things from him.

been flooded with alot of computers lately guys. had to redo the whole teacher comp + lab comps (135 computers) for my alma mater and didn't have much time to check out alot of stuff. most of the stuff i build has to be ordered and put through 2nd day air which takes about 4 days, 6 days if Fedex/UPS/USPS gets lazy and doesn't make it by Friday. The only stuff left sitting on my house usually is only old BX's and sdram. Not even HDDs nor VGA cards.
ds baruuuuu: check pms, i dunno if you got them or not, i am usually too forgetful to put receipt.
Heres my p4 that if you want I can get it for ya in 8 days, I'll let you build it. I can build them myself but I rather let you guys try it out, its easier than changing oil. basically i'm not pulling anything back from this :P
