Computer question

Why does everything on my work computer sound sped up? It's a win2k. Any ideas on how to fix? I think I've fixed it before...had to do with digital or something.

If you're talking about windows media player then you have to goto View > Enhancements > Play Speed Settings. Then click on Normal. Just below that it should say Play Speed: 1.0

No, every audio and video program on here. I'm listening to RealPlayer right now, but it happens with MusicMatch and WMP.

Does the computer use an Intel chipset based motherboard? Onboard sound? If so, try this:
http://www.intel.com/support/motherb...Efv/soundp.htm

If you need to figure out what kind of hardware is in the rig go here and run the utility:

I'm home now, but I will apply that stuff when I go back to work.

Now that I'm at home, any idea why my desktop shows an error everytime I try to play video? Is it a codec problem? Should I uninstall/reinstall my sound drivers?

Life is full of problems, huh?

What is the error on the for the video? Is it every video you play or just a few of them that you get the error?

In most cases for video files it will probably be a codec error. Windows media player will attempt to find the codec, and it most cases it will not. You'll have to find out what codec was used to encode the video, and dl it.

When I try to play a .wmv through Irfanview, I get

Rundll32

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
After I click 'ok', the program is locked and I have to go to the progman to shut it off.

When I try MusicMatch, I get the same message but in the top bar of the box, it says mmjb.

Same for Windows Media Player.

(I had to test each of these out as I was writing this.)

Forgot Quicktime. Quicktime played a .mov, but I'm getting "Could't open the file "Nancy Takes it IDB and Pat Slobbers all over himself.mpg" because there was an input/output error."

That error means there is too much slobber in the keyboard. Reload the OS.
