clicky noise

First off, i didn't want to post this up because, i know that it is very hard to put a certain sound/noise into writing. Secondly im just a bad explainer. Well, I have an 04 wrx with 22k, and my last oil change was 3 1/2 week ago with 5W-30 Mobile 1 synthetic. I have had this clicking noise for about 6k miles or so. The problem is whenever i put my car in lst gear and slowly let my clutch grab, something "closest to my passenger side" start to make a rapid clickity noise.. to me the sound seems like it is near the right side fender or near the turbo area.. but turbo/dp ain't loose.. while the rest of the gears seem fine. And nothing seems to be wrong with my 1st gear nor my clutch. I cheakd my suspension this morning to see if that was the case but everything was ok. An example of the noise - "it sounds like a woodpecker"..peckin on the fender... i think? LOL.. Thanks you for your time. suggestions or past experiences post will be appreciated.

James

Does it click about 6-8 times then stops? If so I would guess that your pass. side(probably outboard) CV joint may be bad.

what mods do you have? if you have an EBC then it could be your solonoid(sp?) or if you have a CAI it could have come loose and is hitting the side of the car. the most vibration accurs right as you start off for a brief second. check for anything rubbing or hitting the side like sensor connectors, resonator, ect. GL and hope you get it figured out.
