agreed. You definitely do NOT want to cheap out on your clutch. Inexpensive vs cheap is a very different thing. My vote will always be OEM or Exedy. Exedy is used as our OEM clutch.

I'd say go with a Stage 1 setup which is more aggressive than stock and will be able to handle any engine upgrades unless you go crazy.

as soon as I decide to start routing more money to my car I'll be putting a Stage 1 Exedy clutch in.

yeah, I'm running it now. My car started as an automatic and when I had it converted to a manual I had them put in this clutch, so I can't really compare it to the stock, but it isn't too stiff. The only time my leg got tired was in really bad stop and go traffic after already driving for a few hours. I think I got it for like $480 shipped when a vendor on here was having a sale. I'm running it with a stock flywheel.

yeah their definitely an inexpensive clutch UPGRADE over stock. I'm running the OEM STI clutch in my car right now and will have a better comparision once I change it out.

Side question, How long does the average STI clutch last? (Miles)

No launching, casual everyday driving with sprited driving every now and then.....

yup, my car was like yours when it started... an AUTO!!!

I had (have) the fasted 2002 WRX AUTOMATIC on the island. I did a complete JDM Swap so I have a complete JDM V7 setup in my car now.

I'm running the OEM USDM STI clutch kit on my car right now and will be upgrading to the Exedy Stage 1 kit when I get a chance to.

I just like to keep my accomplishment there.

I'm not sure of the STI specifically but Rudy had his OEM Exedy clutch in his car for at least 3 years while frequenting the track and auto-xing

I thought the OEM STI clutch IS the same as Exedy stg1 organic?
I have the exedy stg1 org. and exedy flywheel. It takes time to relearn to feather the clutch again, as revs are quicker, but I also have a crank pulley, so revs are even quicker. My clutch has about 24k miles now, and is about 2.5 years old. I wouldn't go CHEAP on a clutch, it's what attaches the trans to the engine (well it's the connector for the driveshaft).
