It'd make more financial / dependable car sense to sell the 2.5i and buy a slightly older wrx, get an exhaust + accessport, etc.

It'd also makes more sense to do this with a 2.5i:

itd be best if you found an entire donor car for the swap...otherwise finding and getting parts will be costly...

though having a swapped car does have its benefits and coolness....and cheaper on the pocket when it comes to paying for car insurance...

I'd agree that it's probably not the best idea to swap... I mean If you're swapping into a GC chassis the ok, it never came oem with the turbo motor, there is no other way to have a turbo GC, but for the later models, I just don't see the advantages. You'd be spending the money to basically get what came stock in the car anyway ( but less so, as reliability etc would be different )

I'm going to be the devils advocate and say a turbo kit wouldn't be a bad idea. I believe someone on these forums actually has one they where trying to sell and then there is the one thing I can't let you forget. Any 2005< 2.5NA can be tuned using Romraider (opensource) A good friend of mine tunes his 05 RS using it with real good results. Uppipes and downpipes requiring no modification to your cross member can be found here or just simply buy a kit. http://www.uniquemotorsports.com/products/downpipe.htm Either way a high compression lower boost turbo car can be very rewarding.

Going to be as blunt as possible.

DO NOT DO IT...that's plum dumb.

The only way I would do such a thing is if I found a salvaged 2.5i and then found a crazy *** deal on a EJ207 or EJ257. But this is all ONLY if both purchases put together plus any install costs or other costs made sense.

Either way, still pretty damned stupid. The only good reason in my opinion to do the swap is if you have a body style before turbos were offered and want to keep that but add turbo power. Your '06 doesn't fit this bill. Just sell the 2.5i and buy a 02-04 WRX.

But hey, it's your money and I'm sure SOMEONE will take it off your hands! LOL!

My question is why do you have a 2.5i if you knew eventually you'd want boost anyway.
