Brake info.....

for those of you who don't read in the brake forum. I ususally don't, but I came across some really good info that I thought I'd make sure you were all aware of.

I read that that's an awful lot of bleeding. Anyone got speedbleeders permanently on their car?

Also, the higher the boiling point, the better. Don't want H2O getting in there.

What about the other tech articles?
Like the StopTech 350Z Brake Testing??

That should give you an idea of what a kit like that is capable of, and how it will compare to 'other' kits.

And for a little bit of personal testimony.....

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=415361

the wilwood calipers are strictly a race caliper - they are miserable to live with on the street, so, if you race your car more than you drive on teh street (trailer queen) go for the wilwoods, but be prepared to deal with "race car" type issues, such as squeals when cold, leaks, etc. If you drive on the street and only see hte occasional autoX/track day, buy the subaru parts, as they are OEM and hence behave as OEM parts and require OEM levels of maintenance.

for what it's worth i have the perrin/wilwood 4/2 kit and drive it on the street every day.
That post made the guy sound awfully dumb or condescending, or both. He must 'race' to work everyday.

I haven't even decided to buy anything yet, but right now, the top of my list would be the Subaru 4 pots.

Maybe I'll just start slowly upgrading my brakes little by little. Maybe San or Silver Satin might give me a ride sometime. Anyone else upgraded their brakes?

Pat, I'll give you a ride sometime. The 300zx brakes on my car are essentially the exact same as the subaru 4pots. But, don't forget that my car is lighter.

This is a pretty good read, too. Covers a lot of the same stuff that Stoptech put out in the links Mike posted, but from another source (Tirerack).
