When my grandfather passed away a few years ago, we had a regular service, and the cremation happened afterwards off site. Not really a service that goes along with the service. Yeah.

The cremation services that I have been to are the same as casket services except there is an urn instead of a casket.
If the ashes are not being spread sometimes the family will reserve a vault that has enough room for the urn and any memorabilia that is left by friends and family.
I think this something that needs to be answered by someone planning the services.

Shaggy,
Traditional attire is all black or as dark as possible. I've been to a few unfortunately.
My little brother's still haunts me. He was better looking, had a wife and baby, and I always felt it should have been me. Life is strange. I talked to my brother the night he died. We were going to play raquetball the next day. His wife showed up at my friend's door (where I was) the next morning and told me he was dead. I really didn't comprehend it or break down until I saw the coffin. I had to tell my mother over the phone. The pain in her voice was unbearable. Parents shouldn't outlive their children. The pain Bobby's parents are feeling I can't begin to comprehend. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
I always tell my kids to cherish every moment, as you don't know when someone will be taken away. I also tell them they'll never know what losing someone is like until it happens to them. I knew Bobby. We were friends. We didn't hang out together, except for at the shop. He was still a friend. It makes you aware of just how vulnerable you are.
Sorry, but I don't have anything really valuable to say. I don't know what happened, just that one of our friends is gone. Home is where the heart is, and my heart is with his family and you guys right now in this time of sorrow. Please express my whole-hearted condolescences to his family.
