Exclamation bad airbags?

hmmm...i've been in 2 accidents with my subi....both front end....weird thing is, is that the airbags haven't gone off in both of the accidents....wondering if airbags are bad....or i didn't hit my subi hard enough?....because the first accident i can see why it didn't go off (a couple scratches on the bumper, a broken radiator, and condenser)....this current accident (broken bumper, grille, radiator, radiator mount, condenser, radiator hose, alternator belt, hood, driverside fender, driverside headlight.....pretty much front damage....but the car runs).....

just wondering....and wanted everyone to know...

You SRS (airbag system) goes througha complete self-diagnostic everytime you start the car. If there was a fault with the circuit/modules/etc. a warning light would be illuminated.

Engineers program specific criteria for the airbag to deploy. Chances are in most accidents of a minor nature your airbags will NOT deploy.

In fact you don't WANT them to deploy in anything but the most serious frontal collisions.

No worries, Cuz!

Airbags

My wifes friend when she totalled her brand new fully loaded Jetta the air bags didn't go off either. She hit the person in front of her so hard it cracked the VR6 that was up front. VW said the hit above the sensors. I said you hit somebody that hard I don't care where you hit them they should have went off....

my mom's friend got into an accident with his 2001 Audi A4 last week, and passenger side airbag deployed, but not the driver's side...the front end on his car is smashed in...car is totalled (not his fault- second car made a left turn on red, and driver was drinking)...my mom's friend walked away okay, but it's a little disturbing that only one airbag went off, and the wrong one too for that matter...

i remember back in high school my friend hit another car at 35 mph when the other car was at a dead stop (was looking for something in the back seat). his front was crushed and even his engine dropped down for crash protection. his airbags never went off. guess what it was in a neon.
