Baby onboard
Hey everyone!
Just getting some opinions on the subject of driving a newborn in an Sti. My friend just got a baby (about 3 months old) and just purchased an '06 Sti.
Of those of you who are parents, what is your opinion(s) about the safety and comfort of driving an infant in an Sti? Would a stock WRX be a better ride for the infant although not much safer than the Sti?
I guess i'm my thinking a bigger car (midsize at least) would be better for driving kids around in. Whatcho guys think?

my wife has a WRX - and i have an STi - we both had our share of car seats in both- my 4 year old loves my car, it's noisy. hers is more smooth and quiet-
safety-wise they are both the same ratings according to www.iihs.org
the only issue would be - the noise factor... oh and that the STi susp. is a little more stiff. plus the tires are a little more prone to road noise as well.
the medium of baby comfort and your driving pleasure are something you have to decide on-

The STI backseat + Catback=
ZZZZZ for the kids...man, between the low rumbling and the soft back seats...my kids can't keep their eyes open back here.
For babies...I always put the carseats in the back, facing backwards (infants) never in the front seat...and never in the middle back seat...
They are 9 and 6 now...what scares me is the 6yo...girl...asks me: "Daddy, when can I have your car?" I'm like....What the??? Between the two, the girl wants my STI and the boy wants my wifes SUV...

when I had my 03 wrx i took my son home from the hospital after he was born.....the only complaint I had was space. with a car seat, baby bag, and stroller in the back the car seemed more like a small compact.

My kids have been riding in my Sti since ages four and nine. No complaints from either of them, in fact they prefer it to my other vehicle, an Isuzu Trooper. Even with the recent addition of a raspier cat-back exhaust, they still fall asleep in the back seat very easily. With the current favorable safety results of the Impreza platform and the control and dynamics that the Sti chassis has, I actually feel safer in the Sti than in the considerably larger Trooper.

On another note...the worst and best happened to us on this recent trip...First the worst...yeah, I actually rented a minivan...the best though was that we upgraded o a DVD/GPS Luxury van...
I tell you, I don't know how I ever drove in Cali without a GPS...those things are awesome! Never got lost once...only took a wrong turn once because I wasn't paying attention...the GPS system quickly calculated another route and I was back on track in no time
GPS = A++++++++
