Autocross
FINALLY got to drive the Subaru in anger this past weekend. For those that don't know (or can't remember) I've got a '98L with an '02 WRX engine in it. Right now I have the stock RS struts and springs on the car with the oh-so-not-performance RE92s.
Autocross was a blast. I had forgotten how much fun it was. First run I was all amped up and almost DNF'd myself. Actually had to use reverse! Second run was a bit better, but I was still fighting understeer of Ice Cream Truck proportions. Third and fourth runs were better, but nothing spectacular. My plan was to go out, beat on the car, and hopefully not break anything. I got better with each run, so that's all I can ask of myself.
The rear STi swaybar didn't give me the lift-throttle oversteer like we thought it would. Good to know. The front tires and suspension give out WAY before I think that would come into play. Man those RE92s are crap. Gallstone tires - had a set of 'em on my Mini (165/70 10) and they sucked just as bad. Not RE92, but same manufacturer. They were slicker than goose crap on a crystal doorknob.
Gotta see if I can get some suspension at least before the next race on the 19th. I want to run again, but I was on the bump stop of the LF strut a lot of the way around, and the LF tire was rubbing on the inner fender liner.
All in all it was a blast. Didn't bring enough water to stay all day, but the morning was fun to watch.

Yeah, even though I was out there giving an understeer clinic it was a blast
Hopefully I can get that sorted out in the near future. Then all I have to do is learn how to drive!

Ty, I was too busy smiling to thank you for the fun run so here it is "Thank You!"
It was nice meeting a few more Subie owners. Next time maybe I will actually drive. :RockOn - not mine:
