Fixes the camber curve for dropped cars.. I forget from which point, but when you drop your car, and then take turns like you mean it, your camber decreases on the outside tire(s), which in then equates to lost grip.

the 6gunracing ball joint kit puts your lowered car back to factory specs in regards to chamber curve / turning. I myself couldn't even get 1 degree negative of front camber after installing these. I was required to slam my camber plates on my front suspension.

reading though some of that it was stated that the pieces didn't seat well. That is a big mistake especially in race conditions. Also that is why the cotter pin is there to make sure that **** doesn't move in the event that it wasn't torqued enough.

My 6gun pieces is very well made. Ever since installing it and getting my alignment with the suggested camber settigns from Ken the car feels awesome! it's a combination of the awesome suspension I now have on my car with new ball joints and the 6gun piece.

Since I'm not planning to be traveling at the speeds that the GT cars travel at in the turns with wide *** R-Compound I don't see a problem.

With my installation I made sure that my ball joints went all the way into the front wheel hubs and that the tie rod ends were installed correctly. I may have provided more torque than necessary and I plan on checking it BEFORE the race on Sunday.

Don't be scared about this failure since the racers that experienced the problem are in a completely different league than we are and they travel at a lot higher speeds through the turns than we would. Look at that chamber the cars are running

Jon

- FYI: I do NOT regret installing this piece and I recommend it to all that can afford it. nothing but positive feedback about this piece

Wow! You got those quickly!! I wouldn't worry about the failed unit. If TIC/sixgun finds something worthy of concern, I'm betting that they will replace any units from the run. Glad you like those pieces. Thats the next step for me, for sure.

good to hear the car feels good and that ken was able to help. i think the guy that broke his was hitting the corner bumps. hopefully it will be good for your use, but if on the street and you hit a nasty pothole, you might want to check them. see you sunday.

Hey Jon,

I'm not sure if you saw the post from 6 gun (Javid). They are recommending that everyone (race and street driven vehicles) remove the tie rod extensions. Apparently the defective piece was machined out of spec and that caused the failure. Supposedly it has to do with the inner taper of the threads within the tie rod extension.

Good news is that they are working on maybe a redesign and also improving QA so that this doesn't happen again. They will be replacing the tie rod extensions at no cost. The bad part is that there will be more bumpsteer without the tie rod extensions but it shouldn't be a problem. The actual ball joint extensions can be kept on and you can still benefit from the improved camber curve.

I get worried anytime something could potentially negatively affect your steering. I already had an experience in a Blazer when the steering went out. That wasn't fun. I think I'll be removing my tie rod extensions until they figure out what's wrong.

Steve,

Thanks for the heads up on the tie rod extension. Since I will NOT benefit 100% from the piece if it's removed I'm going to leave mine on. I'll keep a close eye on it and adjust it as necessary.

do you know where the instructions are to install these on to our car is located? mine did NOT come with instructions and I want to make sure that I have the correct torque specs for everything since it is NOT the same as factory.

This post has torque specs specified, but I have no idea where he got his specs from. I don't see any instructions on the 6 gun website either.

in this picture you notice that the grub screw in the tie rod extension is recessed... MINE ISN'T

I'm still using the factory tie rod ends (which are probably bad). Had I won those aluminum control arms on ebay I would have done this again to replace my control arms and I would have purchased new tie rod ends. But since I didn't I'm leaving it the way it is. I'll be looking my setup over tomorrow though.
