I'm not sure exactly what you're asking... But they Pony Express Performance sells MIL Eliminator kits for the WRX that work great. Have had one on my car for AGES.

I don't understand the confusion. I am running the MIL eliminator. I have no check engine light. My cruise control works fine.
If you have a regular WRX (I only say this because I don't know if it's true on the STi as well) your front O2 sensor is "semi" wideband (more resolution than a narrow band) and your rear is a narrow band so they don't even show up as a similar signal. They are completely different.

in addition to what richard said,
even if the front and rear O2 sensors were the same, you'd still have a cel.
THe reason you have a cel is because right now they read almost the same. The rear O2 is reading what is actually in your exhaust... and due to the lack of cats it's throwing the cel. The resistor lowers the output voltage (and something else) which makes the ECU see a lower amount of fuel (more O2) in the exhaust. That tricks it into thinking the cat is operating properly.

I think the new mechanical CEL fixes are an even better (easier) solution. All it is is a screw on adapter that houses the O2 sensor and lets almost no air to it, so the sensor thinks everything's fine. Perrin and GP moto sell them, the Perrin one is $50 and the GP Moto is $30, go figure. Talk to Sean at www.rallitek.com I used the pony express one on my wrx and like the mechanical one much better that I have on my STi.
