Anyone work in the consumer loan area??
OK. i am finally moving on to a career change for the 1st time 8 years. i will be the Sr. Consumer Loan Clerk at First Hawaiian Bank starting in december, on the 12th. I'm curious to see how stressful my job is, and what kind of duties you all do on a daily basis. I'm fairly excited about the position but my training is 6-9 months, so i know there is a lot of things i need to know and learn. I am super excited that i will be working daytime, with only possible overtime on saturdays for a few hours if needed!! So the guys that know me know how pumped i am about my new time schedule. please post up if you can give me the 411....

my dad was vice president for 1st hawaiian bank for 15 years....
there definitely is room for a lot of movement within the company,,, but it is very competitive- most people start out as a teller and go up from there- unless you are coming in packed with some tasty credentials!
congrats! ... and BTW, do you know if the job is salary or commission based? i know that if you hook up on the dealer center for FHB some on commission....

i am not commissioned as of yet, but salaried. maybe i could get there afterwards. i am not the originator of the loan, but to review it for errors and finish the processing. i also answer any questions that they may have on their loan.
^^^ I used to process mortgage loans two years ago when the interest rate was crazy low at City Bank (now merged with CPB). Man, talk about stress... loan officers bring in crapload of new loans many of them are trouble, then they were on my *** everyday asking if the loans are approved and I told them no caz the people's credit were bad but all they cared about was their f**kin' commissions. It just wasn't for me and the pay was ****... but I was fresh out of college and I didn't know what I was going to do with my life... so what the heck.</vent>
Now that I've done scaring you... joking! LOL. I think you'll be fine working under this stressful environment because the kitchen during dinner time is just like that. Consumer loans are a totally different story. It's way better than mortgage lending I tell you. Btw, congrats on your new career!
I know the nature of the loan business so call me up if you have any questions, Chris.
