My buddy asked me yesterday if the G35 Coupe was known as the Skyline in Japan... apparently it is. Any performance numbers on it?

No turbo? No AWD?

I don't know a thing about that car or really any other, to be honest.

Nissan made two different types of Skylines before the whole G35 thing. They used to have a regular Skyline which is a family sedan and the performance oriented Skyline GTR. The last Skyline GTR had a RB26DETT engine and AWD. The upcoming GTR will be naturally aspirated and I'm not too sure about the drivetrain.

Did you get one Scott? Lemme know, bastage!

I will not buy a car at this point, but y'all have piqued my curiousity.

I will testdrive the STI (if possible) and the G35.

Hey Dave, whatsay when you've gotten it broken in you'll let me take it for a spin. Just a few passes in the gulch is all.

G35=R35

I wonder why american market gets the "G" and Japan gets the "R". The R35 sure is a huge departure of style from the R34 though...

That would be incorrect. Since the Skyline no longer uses the RB series engines, the current Skyline in Japan is known as V35 to indicate the shift the the VQ engines.

There has been more than just 2 models of the modern (R32, R33, R34) Skylines. The models ranged from the GTS (non-turbo) to the GT-R with the GTS-T, GTS-4, GTS25, etc. in between, depending on the year, engine size(2.0, 2.5, 2.6), turbo, AWD, etc. And depending on the exact model they were offered in both 2 door and 4 door variations as well as having RWD or AWD. The top of the line GT-Rs were the only ones with the RB26DETT and only came in 2 door form with AWD. As for the next GT-R it has not yet been determined what it will be like, but given that the JGTC GT-Rs have switched from the RB26DETT to the VQ30DETT engines, it is possible that it will utilize a simliar setup for the production car. And being that it will be a GT-R, it will almost certainly retain AWD.

If I get a G35, I'm going to try and get all the nissan badges for it. But I don't know if the front grill and steering wheel cover will fit.
