15/1 ? thats pretty sweet up/down rate. Was thinking of upgrading lately but wanted to ask just how good the rates were in realtime.

I had clear 4G for a long time and dealt with the crappy speed but I have to say once my contract is over I will no longer be stealing my roommates RR and I will be getting a line of my own. I dont know what my speeds were but it took about 3-5 times as long to buffer the same streaming video with the clear than it did with the RR. I may not be in a good place to get the Clear signals but even with 4 bars on my receiver it was slower than molasses. I wouldnt recommend it but do your own research based on your area. That will make a huge difference with the Clear since it is a wireless technology.

Link speed on Clear is highly dependent on your signal quality. the modem shown here was only getting 1 to 2 bars and occasionally disconnected.

Disassembled the case off the modem.
Made a big hole with a hole saw, attached a test probe adapter to the smd test connector on MB. Using another adapter attached the probe connector to a low-loss external antenna cable.

Run the cable outside to a WiMax 19dbi directional antenna and point towards the nearest Clear tower.

Went from 1-2 bars to full bars and sucky connection to full bars and it was able to sustain advertised connections speeds.

Try a local Honolulu server the Palo Alto one gives mixed readings, depends on time of day traffic and stuff.

CLEAR hasnt dropped there Retail Channel. I'm a Senior Retail Sales Representative for CLEAR Hawaii, It's been my Full Time job for the past 4 years, I work @ our flagship Keeaumoku Retail Store. We closed our Maui Retail Channel earlyer this year due to its poor performance in that market (Maui only loaded about 10 new accounts a week, Oahu does that in one afternoon). Oahu CLEAR Retail is still strong, we have 5 Retail locations on Oahu to serve our customers.

Ala Moana Center (Next to Apple) 808-354-0015
Windward Mall (Near Center Stage) 808-354-0017
Pearlridge Uptown (Near the Food Court) 808-354-0014
Keeaumoku Store (Next to Likelike Drive Inn) 808-354-0297
Kahala Mall (Near Kahala Kids) 808-626-5693.

and I'm happy to report, we rank in the top 10 CLEAR Retail Markets nationwide. CLEAR has a total of 45 Retail Markets nationwide, from Las Vegas to New York City!! So we still have a stong connection to our local customers. There have been reports about us switching to business sales only, but I can assure you, thats not the case.

I'm sorry to hear that your cousin left us as a third party representive, due to sales being slow and all for him. BTW, is your cousin name Tony or Adam? From HI Comm? If so, tell them Dave from CLEAR says HI. They had 2 kiosks (Alaz and Pearlz) selling CLEAR service, and recently coverted to selling RR. Anyways, I can tell you this much, sales for us here at CLEAR Retail have been quite busy. The commission checks I make, are the one's paying for my STi, The hourly checks cover the other bills lol.

But if you have any questions reguarding CLEAR, please feel free to PM me here on HIIC, or call me up at my store

Mahalo,
Dave

BTW, for those intrested in CLEAR service, and wants to know if there location has a good signal, please PM your address with zip code, and floor level (if you live in an apartment), and Ill respond back how stong of a signal you have, and if you can pass for Poor, Good, or Great CLEAR service signal...

It's easy enough to do, don't do this however unless you own your clear modem as it does involve modification to the case.
