15.2 @ 88.7 MPH

I was suffering from tire spin off the line... yeah... you heard that right; tire spin. Guess those cams helped out a bit.

I went Friday night and got in 11 runs - much more productive than the 5 runs a week ago. Unfortunately, I was stupid Friday afternoon. Got off the boat after being underway all week, hopped in the car - oooh, I'm riding on E, better hit the pump before I head home - went to the gas station. As I've got about 10gal on the meter I realize Doh! I was gonna go racing tonight! So, I was toting along an extra 75# or so compared to what was in the car the previous week. Oh well...

I was back on street tires this time (heavier and no gearing advantage like with my Kumhos), and that plus the added weight (plus I think it was a bit warmer) = times not as good. As per usual, it was all about the launch. Last time my one good run was a 15.473 with a 2.078 60' time. This time most of my 60' times were in the 2.3xx range with a best of 2.212 (which resulted in my best ET of the night, a 15.582). I'm still not really sure where exactly I'm launching from - need to start paying attention to that so I can work on my 60' times and get the ETs down. I don't think I can match your trap speed, Dominic, but with some practice I might be able to pull off a 15.2 - I dunno.

I was pretty proud of my RTs. I don't necessarily try for a good RT, but I know I'm not going to beat many cars based on top end so I try to get out of the hole with a quick launch. I red-lighted twice, but I also had 5 RTs in the 0.5xx range, including a 0.525 - not bad, eh?

One anomaly from the night - has anyone ever had problems with abnormal 60' times being spit out by the timing equipment? My brother came out with his bone stock '01 Mitsu Eclipse GT and got in 4 or 5 runs. On two of his runs, both in the tower lane, his time slip said he pulled a 1.7xx and a 1.8xx 60' time. The rest of the time slip looked essentially identical to the other slips he had - ETs in the 15.6 and 15.7 range at 88 or 89mph - so obviously his 60' wasn't that good (his other 60' times were in the more believable 2.4 or 2.5 range). All of my 60' times were consistent, regardless which lane I ran in. It just seemed really strange that twice he came up with such a low 60' that didn't make any sense looking at the rest of the times he ran.

Am I transferring my regarding my turbo to you, Sean?

Ed,

Maybe that Z28 WASN'T hitting those street-tire 1.6 60's like he thought he was?
