Any HIIC Apple users out there???

I'm looking at a 20-inch iMac G5 computer.

Any pro's/con's?

I'm not really a big time computer geek.

my wifes first computer was a G3. I personally had a hard time going from a window OS to a mac OS other than that MACs have really kick **** graphics

I have to support these (among others) for work. Moderate reliability issues started to crop up in year 2(of the previous generation). Heat seems to be the major issue (in the schools, the comps stay on 10 or so hours a day in non air conditioned rooms(some on for weeks at a time). Apple used to call the older imacs "Convection Cooled" (read, no fans for cooling internally) All in all, iMacs aren't terrible, but even according to some of the Mac techs I've communicated with online, the iMac isn't the most reliable thing(in Hawaii schools) because of heat and humidity. I don't know where you'll be located, but if you're going to be climate controlled, they're pretty good machines. OsX 10.4 is actually a pretty decent OS, but if you aren't already a Mac household, software availability can be an issue, with expense and specific title availability. On the plus side is the VERY few Viruses coded for Mac as well. In the last 4 years, I've come across 2 virus infected Macs on my networks, versus dozens of PCs.

We have 4 Macs at home. Never had problems. As eric said, though, software availability isn't the greatest.

I love never having to worry about spyware/viruses.

This is kinda funny, looks like everyone's wife has a mac. My wifey uses the G5 for photo editing. I have to say that it is a great computer that takes up very little space. Awesome graphics, simple to use, and plus no worries bout spyware/viruses.

Not to worried about the software issues. I only need MS Office for mac and photoshop CS for mac.

I use a computer for word, powerpoint, email, minor photo editing, minor video editing & looking for car parts / info on the interweb - period! Computer may get used for 3 hrs a day at the most.

I'll my game playing will be done on a XBOX 360.
