Alignment issues

I am wanting to know if anybody else has a Subaru with stock suspension and the alignment is off to the left or just off either direction and it was like that when you bought it I along with a couple others have this problem and just think it is something in the manufacturering process because my 2001 RS was exactly the same as my 2004 STI. So if you have this problem if you could call the dealership you bought it at and have them align the car that would be great. When I told Braun at Schuman he thought I was crazy but I told him this was my second Subaru with the same problem and that I was not the only one he said to tell you guys to bring the car in or call to make a appoinment to have it fixed. Also check your injectors I have two now that the gray caps are gone and the tops which look they should not get dirty are dirty and they have to order them they don't know it but I am gonna see if they will have them cleaned seeing that parts are exposed that probably shouldn't so if anybody has any extra injectors and would not mind letting me borrow the caps until they get them in that would be cool..

Do you mean that your cars pulled to the left, or the steering wheels were not centered?

yeah I think that's what he means!

Jon

- I heard somewhere that it's due to the rack-n-pinion having to much play in it! my car does that too but I have Tein's... I did notice it when I had stocks though

It does both, pulls and steering wheel is not centered. Then Subar needs to get some better racks because this is two cars that have the same exact problem, Dan has the same problem and some others that I have talked too for what the car cost I want the steering wheel to be straight and the car should not pull.. unless it is due to grooves in the road.

Yup, pulling is not good & a non-centered steering wheel bothers me too! However, with all due respect to Subaru dealerships, I would never ask them do my alignment...even if it's free! All they are responsible for is the alignment being "within factory specifications". Personally, I like my alignment set to requested "aggressive" specs. The first mod on any of my cars has been alignment by a reputable shop. Hope you can solve your problems.

Regarding your original question, IIRC my MY00 RS did pull on me, so I took it to my favorite alignment shop to be done. I forget if there was an issue with my WRX...possibly.

I just want it done to have it done, I plan on swapping in springs or coilovers in the future then I'll take it to a real shop to have it done I agree with you about having it done at a place of choice. Either some Tein's coilovers or some STI Pink springs are on my mod list.

When I first bought my 03 wrx, after a few days of driving it I noticed that steering wheel was off centered. I just took it into the Schuman and they realigned it. Since then I never had a problem.

Cool I was sure I was not going to be the only one who's alignment was or is off centered...

...this is kind of interesting... Are anybody's tires showing wear from this left pull? Do any of the pros out there know if Imprezas are cross-camber, cross-caster aligned?

I'm missing a gray cap on at least one of the injectors (rear driver). The front passenger and driver are there and I can't see the rear passenger to tell. Guess I'll give Braun a call.

When I took my wagon in for an alignment they mentioned that the rack-n-pnion had a bit of play.

I haven't noticed any problems on the STi and don't plan to get it aligned until after my springs and stuff goes on.

My alignment was way off from the factory. One of the rear wheels was toe'd out and the other was toe'd in. I didn't bother getting it fixed from the dealer because it would of been to 'spec' according to them. The first 'mod' I did to my car was getting an alignment. I auto-x'd the car w/ and w/o the alignment and the car was a lot more predictable.

Yea mehlt, I got two injector caps missing maybe we should tell them that we want them purged and flow checked seeing that parts have been exposed that shouldn't be the one that has the cap that has been missing for some time it is really dirty...I.m glad I'm not the only one if we can show a trend them "hopefully they will do something" probably won't happen though.
