no... i've tried a short ram and a cai on my car and removed both.

they do not help the car, the stock airbox is only restrictive at >380hp, get a drop in replacement panel filter instead.

AVO Short Ram

I'm running the AVO Short Ram...I've never thrown a CEL with this intake...makes the car kind of loud though...(PDE downpipe, B&B Exhaust, and APS Dual Vent BOV)

I alternate the stock box (no Snorkel) and the AVO...right now, I have the AVO on.

I've been cruisin the different sites, especially the COBB Forums and they speak highly of both the K&N Typhoon GENII and Perrin Short RAM working fine with the accessport and the STI specifically...

When I use the Stock Box, I run a Blitz Drop In filter...

I

ran it for over a year. I had to have something other than stock as I have a FMIC. I also have a wideband O2 unit. No problems, no CELs, never ran lean. Real-world experience, not Internet advice. My car was faster than several STIs on this intake, header/turboback, and stock turbo. But unless you're running a FMIC, the stock intake is fine.

Cool

I never really gained much HP from adding a CAI on my car, it may have added 1-2HP at most, but not significant enough to see a difference in a 1/4 mile run compared to a stock intake unit on an STi. But it sure makes the car sound a whole lot different - the turbo sounds much louder when it spools up!

I think this guy ^^^ meant on an SCCA track!, but not a dragstrip!! cause thats where he probably beat those newbie/inexperienced STi drivers with his WRX. Remember, It does not take a lot of HP to run good SCCA times - it requires more drivers skill/tires/suspension/braking than raw power alone! Ive seen Mini-Coopers post better times than STis at an SCCA course. So it mave have been possible that San out - drove these other STi drivers but not outpower them. A good measure of how much improvement is by comparing your trap speeds in a 1/4 mile - before and after. Each 1 mph gain = 10+WHP on an STi @ 100MPH (baseline)

^^^I dunno JT...I hear that San is the Man.

Actually, that may make you right...driver skill definitely comes in to play...even on a dragstrip.

JT-Sti2,

ask around. I did not take advantage of n00bs at the track. I am not Mario Andretti. 1/4 mile doesn't define everything. I have outpowered STIs at the track. Period. STIs are fast. Period. You know not of what you speak with respect to my car. Trying not to be negative, but you have the "STI" attitude. Much like many have had the "WRX" attitude. Neither is positive. Later.

On the contrary, what part of what I said didnt make sense? If youre really sure that your car outpowered STis then you shouldnt have any problem in a 1/4 mile track posting some impressive times, nothing against WRXes, Ive seen some fast ones like infek, depilipino guy, STinightfall they all ran decent trap speeds like 102-103MPH or somethin...so if your car has a similar setup as theirs then you may be right when going up against bone stock STis.
