Accident on ala moana blvd....

Racing suspected
in fatal car crash
Two men were killed and
three others were hurt
in the accident on Ala Moana

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Police suspect racing contributed to an early-morning car crash yesterday that killed two men and injured three others on Ala Moana.

A 1995 blue Honda Accord appeared to have been speeding east on Ala Moana when it lost control and skidded into the path of an oncoming 1982 GMC sport utility vehicle and a pickup truck, police said.

The GMC crashed into the Honda's side, causing its occupants, Andrew Ngan, 21, and Ryan Kono, 20, to be thrown from the vehicle. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident occurred about 4:15 a.m. on Ala Moana at the intersection with Keawe Street.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Andrew and Ryan were both my friends and its sad to see them go like that, but i know there are a lot of people telling you the same thing, but just a reminder, speed safe, and don't speed on the streets....

My condolences to their family, friends and loved ones. May they rest in peace, and God Bless. Although I too go over the speed limit, let's leave the racing for the tracks...

Lost my brother

many years ago because he was going too fast. You would think it would have slowed me down, but it didn't. We both love(d) speed and nothing is going to change it.

At work, my delivery driver told me that the passenger in that crash was his cousin. That sucks. He pretty shaken up about it.

Unhappy

My condolences to their family & friends.

If our lives/habits go unchanged after this accident, their tragic passing and the lessons to be learned from it will all be in vain.

Unfortunately I would have to assume the driver knew that speed could kill as we all do, but that doesnt always stop us from letting the adrenalin or whatever kick in and override the brain. I have lost friends to accidents due to speed and almost killed myself when I used to race motorcycles (legally on track). My accident did sort of take my "nerve" away which isnt always a bad thing. I would still go way too fast on the bike when I had it on those windy Idaho roads.
