That's what I love about small, light cars; it doesn't take a ton of power to make them crazy fast.

It's for sale too. I want to restore my 1966 Austin Mini Cooper S and can't afford to keep both of 'em (specially since I just bought that '98 Impreza).

Depending on the year, the original Mini weighed around 14 or 1500lbs. The "A Seires" engine isn't really meant for 200+ crazy *** horsepower though. It's a pushrod 4 cylinder that was originally designed as a tractor motor... that being said, there are guys making absolutely nutbag amounts of power out of them.

...and you can still get 165 / 70 10 Yokohama A008s through tire rack.

Thanks, Sneezerboi. It was my first Mini - bought 'er in 2002 just before we got our new MINI (which only lasted a short while!).

The car is going to be for sale at $8,000 firm. It's the 998cc variant, right hand drive and currently has the "twin leading shoe" drum brakes on the front. Those are sufficient for the engine right now, but I've got a set of Cooper S discs (7.5" baby!) that will also be for sale, along with a 1275cc "A+" engine. (later model, stronger...not to mention almost twice the horsepower of the 998).

I really want to find someone who's going to enjoy the car. Yes, it's an "old" British car, and as such you can count on it to strand you somewhere at some time. That being said though, I know of plenty of people on the mainland that use them as daily drivers in Southern California.

...and if you're worried about fitting, I'm 6'6" and I can fit 3 other people in the car while I drive.

If you want to know more about the car please feel free to PM me or shoot me an e-mail. I think my e-mail is listed here at IClub.

In a few months, if the art season is kind, I may be in the market for one. I've seen 2 nice ones running around here on Kauai. One blue one has been converted into a super lower-case pickup truck. It's cute. The other is red. Both are in awesome condition and are used as daily drivers.

I don't know how anybody would not enjoy this car. It's a rolling piece of automotive history which I can really appreciate. However, knowing me, I'd surely AutoX the Mini.

Oh - oops...thought it was in my profile. My plate is Hawaii though. I'm on O'ahu. I used to live in San Diego though. TONS of classic Minis back there.

As for AutoX... most definitely. Even with only the stock suspension components it's a lot of fun. There are *tons* of parts out there - hell, they made 5.3 million Minis from 1959 to 2000. Just not a whole lot in the US. (There are parts suppliers in the US though)

Sneezer - they did make a Mini truck, so it's quite likely that it's not a converted Mini, but a real Mini pickup. Then again without a photo it's hard to tell

One of these days I'll get off my *** and start a classic Mini club for the islands. Here on O'ahu I figure there are 20 or 25... I've only ever seen a few though. With the (hopefully) upcoming Superferry we'll finally be able to realize our dream and take over... I mean, visit all the islands.

More importantly, who's going to take IS2's left nut in trade? Nice car. All it needs is a "L-A-S-E-R". Seriously, nice car.
