I would take the R8...I already own an STi

The R8 would be me *****es galore.

 

i am willing to bet that R8 is stock and that STI has at least 10k in parts.

remove that STI's AWD/launch control advantage and do that race from a roll from lets say 30 and see who wins then. or better yet do a top end race with the R8 stock and the STI as it is now. at the end of the day the STI does not have the displacement nor the gearing to get beyond 160+

Well I don't call it a race unless it's been in a touge battle LOL... that's a race I want to see cause you know anyone can go straight, but it takes skills to take turns and the first one counts.

and again this is why I say it's like comparing an apple to an orange. both cars are designed for a certain type of race. i don't expect an R8 to keep up in a Rally environment just like I don't expect the STI to keep up in the Nurburgring.

believe me I know the difference between straight lines and turns I do my share of both and love both. but guess what in the world we live in, its all the size of the ***** you are packing. ie....my HP is this and my car can do this on the 1/4 mile. sorry bad analogy with the ***** thing.

as uneducated as it sounds comparing numbers with others is just the TRUTH of what happens in almost 90% of the car talk that happens.

 

i hate watching these kind of videos.. seriously.. let's take 'mainstream car with tons of aftermarket potential' and race it against 'supercar that costs 10 times as much' and let's do it in a straight line. you can take a geo metro and make it into a 10 second car.
