You're all wrong!!! Well anyway this car I looked at was FWD according to my carfax report. In fact I have a picture I took under the car (from the front), and it really doesn't look AWD, nor was there an AWD sticker on the trunk.

Anyway check this out:
http://auto.consumerguide.com/auto/u...ex.cfm/id/2231

"1996 Subaru Impreza: ... leaving the L coupe and sedan as the sole front-drive offerings."

So I need a 1997+ since only the brighton coupe and outback were AWD in 96.

Hey with FWD, I could do some mean burnouts with a STi engine. But no

Carfax:
Year/Make/Model: 1996 SUBARU IMPREZA L

Body Style: SEDAN 4 DR
Engine: 1.8L H4 MFI 16V
Fuel: GASOLINE
Driveline: FRONT WHEEL DRIVE
Manufactured in: JAPAN
Safety Equipment: Dual front air bags/active (manual) belts

Standard Equipment: Power Steering, Air Conditioning, AM / FM Cassette, Power Brakes, Tilt Wheel, 6-digit Odometer

You need the gas tank and rear crossmemeber I believe (unless it's the same as the 04 but we're not sure without looking).
